Walkers Welcome

We are on the Cresswell to Berwick section of the Northumberland Coast Path, a 60 km section of the 4900 km North Sea Trail.  Our house is on the Warkworth to Craster part of the route, 2 miles south of Craster, and an ideal stop for an overnight stay before carrying on from Craster to Seahouses. Why not use us as your central point for walking the North Sea Path?

SUGGESTED ITINERARY:
DAY 1:  Start at Cresswell and walk to Warkworth (STAGE 1  10 1/2 miles).  Have an early evening meal in one of the many excellent pubs or restaurants in Warkworth, and we can pick you up from there and bring you to The Old Rectory.  Overnight at The Old Rectory.
DAY 2: Leave your luggage here and we'll take you back to Warkworth after breakfast.  Walk from there back to Howick  (STAGE 2  11 miles).  Evening meal in Dunstan or Craster (we'll get you there and back).  Overnight at The Old Rectory.
DAY 3:  After breakfast, walk from Howick to Seahouses (STAGE 3  12 miles).  Evening meal in Seahouses and we'll collect you from there.  Or get the bus back and eat locally to Howick.  Overnight at The Old Rectory.
DAY 4:  We'll take you, or you can get the bus, back to Seahouses.  Walk from Seahouses to Belford (STAGE 4  11 miles).  Stay overnight in Belford or Fenwick.

Further information on the Coast Path is available from www.northseatrail.org or www.northumberlandcoastaonb.org

And if you would like to stay longer, there are some very pleasant circular walks you could do, taking in the coast and countryside around Howick and Craster.  The walk from Craster to Dunstanburgh Castle is very popular, and of particular note is the circular route through Howick Hall Gardens, down to the sea at Howick Haven, along the coastal path to Craster and round back through the countryside to Howick.  Walks in the Cheviot Hills are a must for the more strenuous. Information about walks in the Cheviot Hills is available from www.cheviotwalks.co.uk

St. Oswald's Way also passes our door.  See the website at www.stoswaldsway.com

We are on the coastal bus route.

We have clothes and boot drying facilities for those wet days. and boot cleaning facilities.

We can provide you with an early breakfast if you need to make an early start, and do a packed lunch for you to take with you.
